Robert Ruiz named associate dean of Student Admissions

Robert Ruiz, a higher ed leader, innovator, and teammate with 30 years of experience in admission and enrollment management with a demonstrated history of delivering results, has been named associate dean for Student Admissions

The appointment was announced by Julie White, PhD, vice president for Educational Services and dean of Student Affairs. “We are delighted to have Robert join our team,” White said. “He brings a wealth of experience and impressive energy to this pivotal role.”  

His specialties include strategic planning, institutional and individual relationship building, project management, diversity-based admissions, cost-containment, emerging technologies, operational efficiencies, financial aid leveraging and process management. Ruiz has a deep understanding of the undergraduate, graduate, business, medical, and engineering school sectors. He has demonstrated a commitment to the mutual success of students and institutions as demonstrated by his record as a strategic enrollment manager committed to diversity and inclusion.

Ruiz has held senior enrollment roles at Tulane University, Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and served as vice president of application services for the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. He also served 10 years as the director of Admissions at the University of Michigan Medical School, and spent nearly a decade in higher education technology, helping institutions manage enrollment processes, protocols and outcomes through consulting and project management.

Ruiz holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Spanish, and a master’s degree in higher education administration, and is working toward completing his doctorate in higher education administration. 

Ruiz is an avid traveler, reader, enjoys running marathons, and spending time with his large extended family.
